Title: Photonic integrated cross-connects for all-optical neural networks
Photonic neuromorphic computing is raising a growing interest as it promises to provide massive parallelism at low power consumption. I will present our work on Indium Phosphide cross-connect chips for feed-forward neural networks and the investigation of all-optical neural networks on chip.
Patty Stabile moved to the TU/e COBRA Research Institute (now IPI) in 2009, where she was appointed as a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Electro-Optical Communication (ECO) system group. She became Assistant Professor in 2014. In 2016, Patty was awarded the Early Career Women in Photonics – Special Recognition from the European Optical Society (EOS), for her contribution to large-scale photonic integrated circuits for high-connectivity and high capacity optical switches. She has been visiting scientist at University of Cambridge (UK), hosted by prof. Ian White, and at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, hosted by prof. Dirk Englund. She is board member of the IEEE Photonics Benelux Chapter since 2016 and member of the TU/e Young Academy of Engineering. She is author and co-author of more than 100 journal and conference papers.
At the Electro-Optical Communication System (ECO) group we pursue the vision of a globe-spanning ubiquitous optical network, a sustainable and reliable communication and computation infrastructure for users and devices around the world. ECO is also a key group within the Institute for Photonic Integration (IPI), a leading R&D center in the field of photonic integration, performing research activities into communication technologies ranging from fundamental research to applications.
