Title: Biosensing: from proof-of-concept to product
The basic principles of evanescent wave based photonic biosensing will be explained. The transition from laboratory proof-of-concept to product requires several aspects to be addressed, two of which will be discussed: optical connection to the biosensor chip, and read-out methods.
Peter received his master degree in 1993 from the University of Twente, and his PhD in 2000 at the Delft University. He co-founded ThreeFive Photonics, commercializing the photonic technology developed in Delft for fiber-optic communication. Since 2008 he is a scientist at the Optics group of TNO, focusing photonic sensors. He is part-time involved in the TNO spin-off company Delta Diagnostics.
Delta Diagnostics is a Rotterdam-based spin-off from TNO (2018), with currently six persons employed. We develop biosensor systems for life sciences and diagnostics, with the ambition to enable scientific break-throughs and to make label-free biosensing accessible to all. Our technology is suitable for Point-Of-Care applications.
